2013 Booking

I always advocate getting key wedding suppliers booked early.

I attended a wedding fair in November 2010 and met a lovely exhibitor who wouldn’t perhaps be at many shows due to the nature of her business. We had a long discussion about the virtues of using a toastmaster and the benefits I could bring. It was in March last year that she contacted me to say that she was getting married and I was going to be her toastmaster.

I was so pleased to receive her booking yesterday for her wedding in December next year.

Winner – 2012 Wedding Industry Awards

What a fantastic night everyone had last night at the finals of the 2012 Wedding Industry Awards, held at Cafe de Paris in London.

Compere for the evening was Sky TV’s royal correspondant, Sarah Hewson, who had the priviledge of covering the Royal Wedding of HRH Prince William to Miss Catherine Middleton last year.

With over four hundred of the country’s best nominated wedding suppliers attending, it was a brilliantly opportunity for the great and the good within the wedding industry to meet each other and celebrate the excellent work that they supply to their clients. The voting process had taken place since between June & October 2011, with all weddings between January 2010 & September 2011 being eligible. Votes came from brides and grooms, rather than other wedding suppliers.

Regional Winner & National Highly Commended Certificate - Special Touch Category

Most humbling for me was the fact that I was honoured with a Highly Commended Certificate, something that was limited to only a select number of categories. In the words of founder and chairman of the judges, Damien Bailey, “In certain categories, the competition was so close that it was very difficult to separate the winners. With this in mind, we felt that we should recognise how near some suppliers came that we decided to present Highly Commended Certificates to those companies”.

The Perfect Wedding Guild

Tomorrow I’ll be attending the Mercure Parkside House with fellow members of The Perfect Wedding Guild for our first wedding show of the year.

Although there will be other shows on tomorrow locally, it allows brides & grooms to see many excellent suppliers from the area in one fantastic venue.

The Parkside House has undergone some extensive redecoration over the past year and coupled with the beautiful ‘star lit’ marquee (which has been in place throughout Christmas), this is a superb venue, well worth considering for your wedding or special event.

Booking

Really pleased that the good start to the year has continued with a master of ceremonies booking coming from a bride and groom who enquired about my toastmaster services at the beginning of this week. They were keen to get the booking in, just in case I wasn’t available and they’d end up disappointed if I wasn’t there.

It is always a good idea to get chosen wedding suppliers booked early, as often good suppliers will always be in high demand.

I had an enjoyable time this evening with other members of The Perfect Wedding Guild at the Mercure Parkside House Hotel.

We met to catch up with each other following Christmas and also in preparation for our first wedding show of the year at the same venue this coming Sunday 15th January. The wedding fair will run between 11am & 3pm.

If you’re currently planning a wedding a would like to talk to the best wedding suppliers in the area, then do come along on Sunday to find out how we can help your wedding perfect. I’ll be delighted to welcome you on your arrival.

Toastmaster Enquiries

The new year has started in a positive way for me with two enquiries for my toastmaster services over the last couple of days.

One came as a result of a referral via my good friends at Harts Food Events and More, the other from my newly re-launched website www.theenglishtoastmaster.co.uk

Knebworth House Wedding Fair

Today I’ve had the pleasure of attending the Knebworth House wedding showcase. It was my first visit and we had a great day with over 90 brides coming to see us.

Wedding – Mr & Mrs Hill

What an eventful day I had yesterday at the wedding of Philip & Daniella Hill!!

They were married at lunchtime in the local church near to where they live in Bedfordshire. At this time the snow had just started to fall lightly, but there was no problem for either the couple or guests.

Following the church service, the snow was about 3cm deep and falling much heavier by now, we walked to the rear of the church where a marquee had been erected in the grounds of the manor house. As we walked the snow turned to blizzard conditions and continued to fall.

The wedding breakfast was great and snow continued to fall all evening and by 8.30 it had stopped and as I had finished my duties, I took the chance to leave. By this time the snow was at least 30cm deep.

The 20 minute journey home turned into three and a half hours, but we’d had a brilliant day and the bride & groom truly had a ‘white wedding’.

Wedding – Althorp House

I was honoured yesterday to be Toastmaster at Althorp House, Northamptonshire for the wedding of Ed & Kelly.

This magnificent stately home, known worldwide as the family home of the late Princess Diana is a unique wedding venue.

Woughton Parish Council Winter Ball

Last evening I was priviledged to be hired as Toastmaster at the annual Winter Ball for Woughton Parish Council.

Mercure Parkside Hotel was the venue, a familiar one managed by my friend and fellow Perfect Wedding Guild member, Barry Winter. Also attending were other members of the Guild, Maria Barry (Photographer), Chris Richards (MK:Magic), Sean Lester (All Smart Entertainment)

The theme was James Bond and following arrival cocktails, guests, including Milton Keynes’ Mayor, Councillor Debbie Brock, enjoyed dinner and then took their chances on the casino tables (no money exchanged hands as the chips were all pretend). For many their luck ran out early on, so they continued dancing.
